25 Word Pitch
My magazine is going to be an indie rock magazine called Breakout. It will use a black red and white colour scheme and British music.
First Mock Ups
Here are the first mockups of my magazine. They are not of the best quality and hopefully the final product would look a lot better than it does at this moment.
Font Analysis
Here are some fonts that I have found using the basic Microsoft fonts. Although they would all make mastheads,I only feel that a few of them would meet my genre. Those are the two fonts at the top, the second one in on the second row (the one that looks like a printed cityscape) and the one on the bottom right. these all have a rustic vintage effect that would make the magazine look quirky and indie as they do not look as clean cut as the others.
Colour Analysis - Colour Schemes For my Magazine
These are a few ideas of house colours for my magazine. Looking at these colour schemes I personally feel that the colour red should be included in the magazine as during my research most of the magazines seem to have included this colour in it. I also feel that black is another necessary colour as that is strongly associated with Rock music. Although I have seen that yellow works well on rock magazines, I don't want to risk using that colour as it has the possibility of looking tacky and against the theme. Personally I feel that white should be used as it is a common background colour for professional music magazines.
Q magazine double page spread analysis
The main image of this magazine takes up the entire right hand page of the double page spread. This means that the reader’s attention will firstly be drawn to her because it is the first thing that they will see when they open the page. The size of the image shows that she is the key feature of the spread. The masthead of the spread is quite large, black and wrapped around the smaller text as it it is the title of a book to show that it is about the artists’ life. And how she got to where she is today, which the reader will be interested in. The fact that the font is black against a white background shows that it stands out and represents that maybe the artist’s music stand out from the rest. This is also shown by her bright orange hair to show her individuality that indie artists stereotypically have. The fact that the font looks retro and has a serif shows that that is how the artist dresses and so it maintains her image. Her music is quite popular due to the vintage haunting tone of her music that is unique and unlike any other music in the charts. The fact that the first name of the artist, who is in a band, is only displayed tells the reader that she is the only important well known member of the band who sings so she gets all of the band attention.

some tester shots
These are a few tester shots for my magazine. They are not the best quality but the model here has the look for my magazine.
Bauer Media Group- My ideal publisher
Bauer Media Group is a magazine publishing company who have published magazines such as Kerrang! and Q magazine. They also have a 50% stake in the British Television company Box television who produce these music channels: 4 Music, The Box, Heat, Kerrang!, Kiss, Magic and Smash Hits.
I feel that Bauer Media Group will fit the genre of my magazine because it publishes a well known indie (Q) magazine and a successful rock magazine (Kerrang!). they also partially own a company that produces several music channels, one of them being Kerrang!. They have experience with both indie and rock magazines and so will provide the best experience for my magazine.
My magazine will be weekly as most of their magazines are weeklies. They will know how to tailor my indie rock magazine to its audience.

Audience Research
According to UKTribe, i feel that the audiences my magazine will appeal to are:
Indie Scenesters - electro- rock music, wears converse, angular haircut. Music such as The Strokes. doesn't like consumerism
Young Alts - listen to music such as You Me at Six and Green Day - young rockers.
Skaters - skateboarders who usually like to listen to indie or rock music, wear brands such as vans and like TV shows such as Family Guy. Boys generally have much longer hair than the usual short back and sides. Quite grungey and like live acts. Do not really like mainstream 'chavvy' music.
young - about 16-30 years of age for all 3

Basic idea for Magazine
My research shows that I would like to do an indie rock magazine. I think that the idea for my name may be BREAKOUT! as this shows that this is the way that indie artists get well known and I suppose break out of the unknown and become more well known. The idea is British music and the artist could imply that the British charts have become too Americanized and they need to get their 'Britishness' back.

Name of the magazine
I have decided for the name of my school magazine to be Techno. I believe that this is a suitable name as this school is a technology college and it adds a modern quirky feel to the magazine that will encourage teenagers at the school to read it.
